Antique Art Deco French Niello Chain 18ct Gold Sterling Silver

A beautiful antique paperclip link chain made in France in the early 20^th Century (Circa 1920). The paperclip links are fashioned in sterling silver and decorated with striped niello artistry with 18ct yellow gold links in between to create a striking, two-tone effect. ?

Niello is a black metallic alloy that is used to fill an etched or engraved metal base to create a fabulous, decorative effect. The technique has been used for Centuries, dating back to ancient Rome and is extremely durable and stands the test of time.?
